Convicted Felon Faces Murder Charges in Deadly Minneapolis Shooting Spree
A 36-year-old man from Bemidji is facing charges in connection with three shootings in south Minneapolis on Sept. 18, leaving two people dead and two more injured. Joshua Anthony Jones, already a convicted felon and a known gang member, was charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder.
2 Killed, 3 Injured in Downtown Minneapolis Shooting
Police say the incident unfolded at around 1:56 a.m. near 5th Street and Hennepin Avenue, where officers were responding to a fight as part of the department’s Late-Night Safety Plan. As officers worked to break up the altercation, they heard gunshots nearby and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found five people who had been shot.
Charges: Man Killed in Targeted Saint Paul Attack
The suspect, 22-year-old Kueth Chuol Ngut, is facing murder charges after investigators connected him to the crime through surveillance footage, forensic evidence and witness statements. The incident began when Saint Paul police officers attempted to stop a grey Subaru Outback with South Dakota plates.
