2 Injured as Plane Crashes at Shakopee Park
Authorities are investigating after a small plane crashed at Scenic Heights Park in Shakopee early Friday afternoon, leaving two occupants injured.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at 1195 Ruby Lane around noon.
Shakopee police and fire crews arrived to find a Piper PA-44-180 Seminole, a twin-engine fixed-wing aircraft, heavily damaged in the park. Firefighters worked quickly to extricate both occupants from the wreckage. The victims, who have not yet been identified, were transported to a hospital with potentially serious injuries by around 12:20 p.m. There were no injuries to anyone on the ground.

Flight-tracking service FlightRadar24 shows the aircraft took off from Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie and flew several loops to the southwest as far as Belle Plaine. Registered as N2083D, the aircraft was built in 1978 and is owned by Thunderbird Aircraft Co., according to federal records. Thunderbird Aviation is a well-known flight training school operating out of Flying Cloud, though it is still unconfirmed if it was a training flight.
Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified and are responding to assist with the investigation.
